Introduction
The Spring Sprint Triathlon & Duathlon is the
first multi sport event of the season in San Diego. With a calm bay
swim and a flat bike and run course, the Spring Sprint is the perfect
race to kick off your season. Whether you are an experienced triathlete
or duathlete preparing for the season, or a first timer looking for a
fun race in which to participate, the Moores UCSD Cancer Center Spring Sprint on Mission
Bay is for you!
The Personal Best Theme for this triathlon started with a vision from Dr. Tony Reid, Executive Director of the Clinical Trials Office. Dr. Reid understands that patients undergoing anti-cancer treatments are doing their "personal bes" in the fight against their disease, as are athletes doing their "personal best" as they compete in sporting events such as triathlons. Tis event will recognize the courage, determination and strength that cancer patients and athletes demonstrate in their daily pursuits to achieve their personal bests.
At 9:00 am on Saturday, May 3, 2008, there will be a one-mile luminary walk at the event site to honor all those who are fighting or who have fought the battle against cancer.
We invite you to support our vision and join us in this "personal best" event. Whether you plan to participate in the walk, in the triathlon, or just support the patients and athletes, we look forward to seeing you there.
2008 Super Sprint Triathlon-Just starting
out? Doing your first triathlon? Well the Super Sprint is for you. With

for the novice or first time triathlete. It's also a good race for
kid's looking for a challenge. Only first place awards will be given
out in each age group. Sorry no relays are scheduled for this event. The Super
Sprint is limited to 250 participants.

launch ramp completing a ¼ mile rectangular course. Water temperature
is approx. 60-65 degrees, wetsuits are recommended. The start is in the
water about 50’ in front of the boat ramp-the swim is rectangular.
Swimmers will keep the buoys on their left shoulder, except when
finishing the swim into the boat ramp. Athletes will then bike from
South Shores Park to Fiesta Island and complete one large loop around
the island followed by one small loop that cuts through the middle of
the island and returns to the transition area. The final 2 loop 3 mile
run will be
on walkways and on an off–road dirt trail. The run portion of the race is 2 loops. Please make sure to complete both loops of the run course to prevent disqualification.
