Introduction
The Mission Bay Triathlon celebrates the first triathlon in history,
the Mission Bay Triathlon, was held in 1974 as a run-bike-swim-run
event on Fiesta Island by the San Diego Track Club. The race consisted
of over 5 miles of running, 5miles of cycling and 600 yards of
swimming. In 2007, 1600 competitors from around the country will return
to Mission Bay and celebrate triathlon. Join us at the birthplace of
the sport!

Course Descriptions | Course Maps
The Swim: 500 meter point-to-point swim in a protected and
calm area of Mission Bay. There will be multiple wave starts 3-5
minutes apart to break up the pack. Wave start times will be posted at
pre-race check-in. Water temperature averages about 67 degrees.
Wetsuits are recommended.
The Bike: Flat and fast 15K bike ride around the south perimeter of Mission Bay, circling Fiesta Island and returning to Ski Beach.
The Run: Flat and fast loop 5K along the walkway near the
Paradise Point Resort and the model boat pond, finishing at the
transition area at Ski Beach.
Registration
Athletes have the option to register various ways; on-line, print
out a downloadable entry form off this website, request an entry form
via mail or by completing an entry form from Race Place Magazine and
mailing it to the office. This event will sell out before race weekend,
so REGISTER EARLY!

Discounts
A $5 discount is available to Triathlon Club Members, Active
Military, Students 19 & Under and Seniors 60+. These discounts are
valid with mail-in registration only. Mail a printed entry form with
proof of discount (copy of club membership card, active military ID,
Student ID or driver's license) to Spring Sprint Triathlon &
Duathlon, P.O. Box 421052 San Diego, CA 92142.
Mail Back Option
Coming in from out of town or can't make it to check in on Saturday?
For a fee of $15 we will mail you your race numbers (bib, bike and
helmet) swim-cap, timing chip and waiver, to be signed and mailed back
to us. You can pick up your t-shirt and goodie bag at the finish. We do
not guarantee your size since we have run out of sizes at other events.
To guarantee that your finishers t-shirt in the size you requested and
goodie bag is available for you to pick up on race day, you can sign up
for the VIP Check-In. Packages typically will arrive one week prior to
the race. Entries with the mail back option selected must be received
by September 17, NO EXCEPTIONS
VIP Option
For a fee of $30 your race numbers, swim cap, goodie-bag and t-shirt
will be ready for your pick-up on race morning. Pre-race check in is
not mandatory, you will check-in on race morning at the VIP check-in
table. You will sign a waiver and pick up your race materials. VIP
athletes have reserved bike racks with their names in the transition
area. VIP athletes also receive a free 5 minute sports massage from
Cassidy's Massage Clinic at the finish line.
Refund & Transfer Policy
Partial refunds and transfers are available. Cancel by
August 29 and receive a refund, minus a $10 cancellation fee. After August 30 receive
a refund, minus a $25 dollar cancellation fee. There will be no refunds once
the race is sold out. If the race is not sold out then refunds will be
available up to one week prior to the race. No transfers will be allowed 72
hours prior to race weekend. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to these rules.
Race Divisions
Awards will be given three deep in each category for the triathlon. Athletes may register as a male or female aged:

- 55-59
- 60-64
- 65-69
- 70-74
- 75+
Special Divisions Include:
- Elite (Triathlon Only)

Relays- Athletes can register as a relay team for the triathlon.
Teams are comprised of three members, each member does one event; the
swim, bike or run. Teams can compete in four categories:
- Men
- Women
- Mixed (both men and women)
- 120+ (ages of all athletes =120+)
Pre-Race Check In
All athletes must attend the mandatory race check-in to pick up
their race materials. Athletes will sign the race waiver and pick up
their timing chip, race numbers, swim cap and t-shirt.
Check-in is at Paradowski's Swim & Sport on Saturday Octobe 4, 2008 from 10:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
If you are unable to attend, choose the mail back option or VIP check-in.

From the I-15 or 163 take Hwy 52 west to Convoy St. exit. Head south
(over freeway) to second stop light. Turn left onto Convoy Ct. and
Paradowski's is located at the end of the cul-de-sac.
From the I-5 or 805 take Hwy 52 east to Convoy St. Head south (over
freeway) to second stop light. Turn left onto Convoy Ct. and
Paradowski's is located at the end of the cul-de-sac.
Directions to Race Site: Ski Beach, Mission Bay (located off
Ingraham St. across from the Paradise Point resort on Vacation Isle.
Take I-5 to the Sea World Dr. exit. Go west on Sea World Dr. to the Ingraham St.

The Best Western in Mission Bay is located a couple miles from the
race site. There will be special discounted rates for triathlon
participants. (NO Minimum Night Stay) To make a reservation call

race organization. All distances are approximate by GPS measurements.
The race can be altered, postponed or cancelled with no refunds due to
weather, natural disturbances, police activity, acts of terrorism and
