Welcome
The 16th Annual Imperial Beach Triathlon & Duathlon is Sunday, August 24, 2008 at 7:00 a.m. The races start and finish at Imperial Beach Pier Park in Imperial Beach (Southern San Diego County).
About Imperial Beach

Please note that the triathlon features an open ocean swim. Wetsuits are optional (H2O temp is normally 66-70 degrees
WETSUIT RENTALS
XTERRA WETSUIT RENTALS are available for the Imperial Beach Triathlon Xterra Wetsuits, an official sponsor of the Imperial Triathlon, will have XTERRA WETSUITS available to rent for the event. A triathlon specific wetsuit will improve your overall swim performance.

Race Check-In
All athletes must attend the mandatory race-check-in to pick up their race materials. Athletes will sign the race waiver and pick up their timing chip, race numbers, swim cap and t-shirt.
Check-in is at the Imperial Beach Pier Plaza in Imperial Beach on Saturday, August 23 from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
If you are unable to attend, choose the new Mail Back option or VIP check-in.

Awards & Divisions
Awards will be given three deep in each category for the triathlon and duathlon.
Athletes may register as a male or female aged:
- 14-15
- 16-19
- 20-24
- 25-29
- 30-34
- 35-39
- 40-44
- 45-49
- 50-54
- 55-59
- 60-64
- 65-69
- 70-74
- 75+
Special Divisions Include:
- Elite (Triathlon Only)
- Challenged (Triathlon Only)
- Military
- Clydesdale
- Clydesdale 40+
Relays- Athletes can register as a relay team for
the triathlon. Teams are comprised of three members, each member does
one event; the swim, bike or run. Teams can compete in four categories:
- Men
- Women
- Mixed (both men and women)
- 120+ (ages of all athletes =120+)
- 80+ (duathlon)
The award ceremony will commence at 10:00 a.m. Special divisions include Military, Clydesdale and Mountain Bike. Clydes weight requirements are 200lbs for males and 160lbs for females.
Relay Teams
Athletes can register as a relay team for the triathlon. Teams are comprised of three members. Each member does one event; swim, bike or run. Teams can compete in four categories: Men, women, mixed or 120+ (combined ages must be 120 or greater)..
Discounts
A $5 discount is available to: Triathlon Club Members, Active Military, Students 19 & Under and Seniors 60+. The discount is valid with mail-in registration only. It cannot be used with online registration. Mail a printed entry form with proof of discount (copy of club membership card, active military card, student ID or driver's license).
Mail Back Option
Coming in from out of town or can’t make it to check in on Saturday?
For a fee of $15 we will mail you your race numbers (bib, bike and
helmet) swim-cap, timing chip and waiver, to be signed and mailed back
to us. You can pick up your t-shirt and goodie bag at the finish. We do
not guarantee your size since we have run out of sizes at other events.
To guarantee that your finishers t-shirt in the size you requested and
goodie bag is available for you to pick up on race day, you can sign up
for the VIP Check-In. Packages typically will arrive one week prior to
the race. Entries with the mail back option selected must be received
by April 16, NO EXCEPTIONS
VIP Check-in
For a fee of $30 - Your race numbers, swim cap, goodie-bag, and t-shirt will be ready for your pick-up on race morning. All you will need to do is check-in on race morning at the VIP check-in area, where you will sign a waiver and pick up your race materials then go to your reserved bike rack in the transition area and get ready to race!
Refunds
You have the option to transfer your entry to the 2008 Imperial Beach Triathlon OR receive a partial refund. Request refund by 7/29 and receive a refund of the printed entry fee minus a $10 cancellation fee. Request refund 7/30 - 8/22 and receive a refund of the printed entry fee minus a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds within 72 hours of the event. No transfers on or after race day. Refunds and transfers are processed 3 weeks after the race.
