SUPERFROG & SUPERSEAL Triathlon
WELCOME We are excited to welcome you to the 31st annual TriWest SUPERFROG Triathlon and the 2nd Annual SUPERSEAL Triathlon. SUPERFROG has moved off the Naval Amphibious Base to the Silver Strand State Beach in Coronado. Along with this move off of the base is the date change to March 29, 2009. BENEFICIARY All SUPERFROG and SUPERSEAL proceeds, less costs, go to the Naval Special Warfare Foundation, a non-profit (501c) organization established to honor all who have served in the sea commando services from WWII to today's Seal Teams. The Naval Special Warfare Foundation's focus is on their families by providing educational and motivational support, promoting health and welfare program and to the Naval Special Warfare Community by perpetuating the history and heritage of U.S. Naval Commandos. RACE FEATURES
SUPERFROG COURSE This course is not a course for the faint of heart. The swim course is an open ocean water swim in the brisk April waters. There will be multiple wave starts that will be set 5-10 minutes apart. The wave start times that will be posted are APPROXIMATE times. Wave starts may be early or delayed. Please make sure to be at the swim start at least 20 minutes prior to your approximate wave start time. The water temperature will be approximately 60 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended. Next, the bike course will be a flat and fast 56 mile bike course. The course will be four loops on Highway 75. Safety certified helmets are required for the bike portion of the race. You will NOT be allowed to race without a helmet. And lastly, the run course is a 13.1 mile course on soft sand, hard sand, and hard pavement. The run will be composed of two 6.6 mile loops . Water will be available at all aid stations (2 per loop).For the run course and the bike course, make sure to complete all loops for the course. Those who fail to complete four bike loops and four run loops will be disqualified. SUPERSEAL COURSE Just like the evolution of Frogmen into SEALS, the SUPERSEAL has evolved into an International distance course that will take all you can give and ask for more. The swim is a 1,500 meter swim in the Silver Strand State Beach Bay. The swim will be a calm bay swim. The bike will be a flat and fast 40K bike course. The course will be two loops on Highway 75. Make sure to complete both loops. Safety certified helmets are required for the bike portion of the race. You will NOT be allowed to race without a helmet. The run course is a 10K pavement and dirt-trail run. The run will be composed of one out and back loop. Water will be available at all 3 aid stations. REGISTRATION SUPERFROG and SUPERSEAL registration is also open to all athletes with disabilities (however, the run courses for the SUPERFROG and SUPERSEAL will differ slightly, due to the sand/dirt trails). Athletes have the option to register various ways; on-line, print
out a downloadable entry form off this website (once registration is open), request an entry form
via mail or e-mail. Entry froms should be mailed to SUPERFROG Triathlon, P.O. Box 421052, San Diego, CA 92142. Please do not mail entries after March 18, 2009. ENTRY FEES
ADD $25 to all SUPERFROG registrations made after February 15th. ADD $10 to all SUPERSEAL registrations made after February 15th. IF you are Military and are E-6 and below, you must mail in your entry form for your additional military discount. DISCOUNTS Triathlon Club of San Diego Members, and Active Duty Military pay entry fees that are less than the general public. If you register and receive that discount, you will be asked to show proof that you are a TCSD member or Active Military. SUPERFROG DIVISIONS Awards will be given three deep in each category for the SUPERFROG and SUPERSEAL. Special awards will be given to the first place finishers in the SUPERFROG. VIP CHECK IN For a fee of $30 your race numbers, swim cap, goodie-bag and t-shirt
will be ready for your pick-up on race morning. Pre-race check in and
bike drop off is not mandatory, you will check-in on race morning at
the VIP check-in table. You will sign a waiver and pick up your race
materials. VIP athletes have reserved bike racks with their names in
the transition area. MAILBACK OPTION Coming in from out of town or can’t make it to check in on Saturday?
For a fee of $15 we will mail you your race numbers (bib, bike and
helmet) swim-cap, and waiver, to be signed and mailed back
to us. NEW IN 2009!! Due to the large number of chips that were not returned to us by mailback participants, YOUR TIMING CHIP WILL NOT BE MAILED TO YOU! Your timing chip will be available for you at the VIP booth at the start of the race. You can pick up your t-shirt and goodie bag at the finish. We do not guarantee your size since we have run out of sizes at other events. To guarantee that your finishers t-shirt in the size you requested and goodie bag is available for you to pick up on race day, you can sign up for the VIP Check-In. Packages typically will arrive 5 days prior to the race. Entries with the mail back option selected must be received by March 10, NO EXCEPTIONS!!!REFUND AND TRANSFER POLICY Partial refunds and transfers to the 2009 SUPERFROG or SUPERSEAL races are allowed before February 15th. If you cancel before 2/15 you can receive your entry fee, minus a $10 cancellation fee. If you cancel from 2/16 thru 3/15 you can receive your entry fee, minus a $25 dollar cancellation fee. There will be NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS AFTER 3/15/2009. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule. PRE-RACE CHECK-IN All athletes must attend the mandatory race check-in to pick up their race materials. Athletes will sign the race waiver and pick up their timing chip, race numbers, swim cap and t-shirt. The Pre-race Check-in will be at Loews Coronado Bay Resort in the Constellation Ball Room. The expo will be on Saturday, March 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you are unable to attend, choose the mail back option or VIP check-in. THERE IS A $10 LATE PACKET PICK UP FEE ON RACE MORNING. This rate can only be reserved by phone. Mention the Superfrog Room Block when you call to reserve the discounted rate.
